OUR CLIENTS ARE THE GRANDCHILDREN OF OUR ORIGINAL CLIENTS IN BROOKLYN

The firm was born on Utica Avenue in Brooklyn in 1959, providing straight-talking legal services to a struggling Community.  The word spread, clients referring their friends and family and another office opened in Brooklyn.  Mr. Wittenstein believed that each client deserved his time, attention and respect.  He earned each client’s trust with a dedication to getting them the best possible settlements and verdict, but also by helping them out in any way he could with other legal matters that would have required billable retainers elsewhere.  He went the extra mile for each and every client and the referrals pouring in.  In 1984, the practice moved to Queens, incorporated as Frederick M. Wittenstein, Esq. P.C.  A year later, the firm moved to the Cord Meyer Building on Queens Boulevard in Forest Hills.  The clients came from Brooklyn, and new clients came from Queens, The Bronx, Manhattan, Staten Island and Nassau County.  The children of the original clients from Brooklyn came to us.  Mr. Wittenstein is retired, but remains as a consultant to the practice.

I have been working on personal injury law cases for over 30 years. I began working as a paralegal for my father, Frederick M. Wittenstein, Esq. in 1988. In 1995 I went to CUNY Law School and was admitted to practice in 1999. In 2000 the name of the firm was changed to Wittenstein & Wittenstein, Esqs as it is today. Now I work with a staff of wonderful paralegals and of-counsel attorneys to bring clients not only the best outcomes, but also the best experience possible during the process.

Ms. Tanis began her work as a personal injury paralegal in 2017 but her interest in law began prior to joining Wittenstein & Wittenstein, Esqs. PC. During her undergraduate career at Binghamton University, Ms. Tanis was a member of Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Fraternity and Thurgood Marshall Pre-Law Society where she served as treasurer for two years. During her time with these organizations, she was able to host law trips, organize mock trials and law conferences for the student body. Ms. Tanis also works part-time as a NYC Lyft Driver where she holds the position of Northeast Representative for the Lyft Driver Advisory Council. This job and role has afforded Ms. Tanis an intimate understanding of the innerworkings of the rideshare industry.
Jennifer Mendoza
Jennifer MendozaParalegal
Jennifer Mendoza was a Poli-Sci major. That’s where she developed her initial interest in law. She started reading about the paralegal profession and felt that her interests and skills would be a good fit. She handled two secretarial jobs right out of college and learned how to get the work done. She also put in some time working in restaurants, where she learned how to handle stressful situations and smooth over ruffled feathers. She put all of this together and was honored with an invitation to join Wittenstein & Wittenstein where she is a valuable part of the team.
