When a child’s case is settled, a Judge must approve the settlement with an Infant’s Compromise Order. Any person under the age of 18 is considered an “infant” for this purpose. The Judge will order the proceeds of the settlement to be placed in an interest-earning bank account until the child reaches the age of 18.
